LTEC 6250.030 with Dr. Warren - Reflection 2

Activity 2: Reflection In your first blog post, tell me about your current perception of the education and training system that is most relevant to you. This could be corporate, K-12, higher education, or other. In K-12 Education, there are often trends and pendulum swings in all aspects of education; however, many times the same fervor and excitement that goes into the sale or buy-in portion of the onboarding does not carry over into building a system to carry this new endeavor throughout the school year. I often wonder if the public school system had to be accountable in the same way that a business did about the way they spent their money, would we have put evaluator processes and monitoring processes into all of our new trainings and systems to choose to continue with the process or change the training. Though, I have personally known small business owners that give a way too much product to friends and family, but that is not the norm when running a business. Now this kind of training where someone blows into town and then out of town is great for the employee that knows he/she are not going to implement anything that is being taught to them regardless of what presented research may have shown. Good can come from pendulum swings as and it helps reveal that educators are often willing to try the latest trend to improve their instruction or increase student learning. System planning is very complex. The details and the length needed to properly design a system change is much longer than I imagined. Keeping the end in mind while developing an implementation plan creates a forced schedule to This is so important, but often overlooked during the rollout of new educational ideas. Due to lack of preparedness, great ideas get fervent, enthusiastic pushes at the beginning of the year but by December, the flame has died out because there is no system in place or lead person to rekindle it. This eye-opening process is revolutionary.
